4 European Municipalities Join Forces to Protect Nature

Gmina Radków, Korfantów, Stěnava, and Prudnik sign cooperation agreement

Collaboration aims to preserve and enhance cross-border natural heritage

Pacts have been signed by four European municipalities to collaborate on nature protection initiatives across borders. Gmina Radków in Poland, Korfantów in Poland, Stěnava in the Czech Republic, and Prudnik in Poland have joined forces to safeguard and improve their shared natural legacy.

The collaboration emphasizes cross-border biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism development, and environmental education initiatives. The pact aims to improve ecological links, establish green infrastructure, and advertise the region's natural beauty responsibly.

Preserving Cross-Border Biodiversity

The municipalities will collaborate to preserve and restore important habitats, such as forests, wetlands, and grasslands, that span their borders. Joint research and monitoring programs will help identify and address threats to biodiversity, including habitat fragmentation and climate change.

By promoting ecological corridors and establishing transboundary protected areas, the partnership aims to facilitate species movement and ensure the long-term viability of wildlife populations.

Fostering Sustainable Tourism

The agreement recognizes the potential of sustainable tourism to support local economies while protecting the environment. The municipalities will collaborate to create and promote eco-tourism initiatives that minimize the impact on sensitive ecosystems.

This includes developing nature trails, providing educational materials, and promoting responsible tourism practices among visitors. By showcasing the region's natural beauty in a sustainable manner, the partnership aims to attract tourists while preserving its ecological integrity.

Promoting Environmental Education

Environmental education is a crucial component of the collaboration. The municipalities will work together to develop educational programs and resources that foster an appreciation for nature and promote responsible environmental stewardship.

This includes organizing workshops, nature walks, and school programs to engage local communities, particularly youth, in environmental conservation efforts. By raising awareness and empowering future generations, the partnership aims to ensure the long-term protection of the region's natural heritage.
