Tornado Warning Issued for Volusia County Expires
Emergency Management Officials Urge Residents to Take Cover
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Volusia County, effective immediately. The warning is in effect until 10:15 p.m. EST.
Residents are urged to take cover immediately in a sturdy building or underground shelter.
The warning area includes the following cities and towns:
- Daytona Beach
- Port Orange
- New Smyrna Beach
- Ormond Beach
- Holly Hill
The National Weather Service warns that a tornado has been spotted near New Smyrna Beach and is moving northeast at 60 mph. The tornado is expected to produce damaging winds and hail.
Residents are advised to stay away from windows and doors. If you are outside, seek shelter in a low-lying area or inside a sturdy building.
